About

About

The Classicus Trio is a vital force in contemporary chamber music, known for its dynamic performances and innovative programming. With a repertoire that spans centuries, the Trio is committed to presenting works from different musical eras in balanced proportion, often curating programs around a central theme. Contemporary music holds a special place in their artistic vision — their concerts frequently feature works by living composers, and they have premiered numerous new compositions.

A central influence on the Trio’s artistic journey is the music and mentorship of György Kurtág. Working regularly with the Maestro is both an inspiration and an honor. His personal support and recommendation are deeply valued as a mark of professional recognition. The members of the ensemble was especially honored to be chosen by Kurtág to perform at the memorial concert for his wife, Márta Kurtág.

In addition to appearances at major Hungarian concert halls, the Trio has performed across Europe, including in Germany, Switzerland, and Turkey. In February 2024, they made their U.S. debut with a concert at Bard College as part of the Kurtág Festival, where they also led a week-long masterclass for students.

The Classicus Trio frequently collaborates with guest artists on instruments such as piano, flute, oboe, percussion, and guitar — a practice that will continue in the coming season.
